Customers

Segments

Live groups of customers that keep themselves up to date.

Segments let you talk about your customers the way you actually think about them: "paying customers still on the legacy plan", "shops that activated this month", "everyone trialing NetWise". You describe the group once, and it stays current on its own, so a segment you built in January is still accurate in June without you touching it.

That makes segments the connective tissue of the console: anywhere you want to look at, email, or automate a slice of your customers, a segment is how you name that slice.

Building a segment

Go to Customers › Segments and click New segment. A segment is a set of conditions, and a shop must match all of them:

  • App: limit the segment to customers of one app.
  • Status: Active, Trial, or Churned.
  • Plan: match a plan by name.
  • MRR and months installed: numeric conditions, so "at least $50" or "installed under 3 months" both work.
  • Tags: any tag you've applied to shops.
  • Custom fields: any field your app pushes or your database computes, which is where segments get really specific to your product.

As you add conditions, the builder shows a live count of matching shops, so you can see immediately whether your definition captures the group you had in mind.

Two kinds of segments

You'll see two types in your list. Condition segments are the ones you build in the segment editor. Filter segments are saved from the Customers page: apply filters there, save the set, and it appears here with a View customers shortcut back to the filtered list. Both stay live; the only difference is where you created them.

Putting segments to work

  • Browse: open a segment to see exactly who's in it right now.
  • Campaigns: target a one-off email at a segment, with a preview of the audience before you send.
  • Flows: run a flow over a segment manually, or use segment-style conditions inside a flow to branch per customer.

Once you have a handful of segments that mirror how you think about your business, most questions ("how many shops are on the old pricing?") stop being questions; the number is just sitting in the list.
